Meredith Norton wins National Indoor Bias Bowls Championship

Meredith Norton from the Ivanhoe Bowling Club recently won the National Indoor Bias Mixed Pairs championship at Shepparton.

Meredith was selected to play for Victoria from the trials held in June. She played in the Mixed Pairs with Glenn Sargeant from Bacchus Marsh.

The Australian Indoor Bias Bowls National Championships are held each year and this year was hosted by Victoria and held in Shepparton. Five states participate: Queensland, Tasmania, SA, NSW and Victoria. Each state competes for the Jack Gore trophy which is won by the state that wins the most games over the five days. Victoria has won the trophy for the last seven years and was victorious again this year.

Over five days they played nine games against the two teams from the four other states plus the other Victorian Mixed Pair. Glenn and Meredith were fortunate to win each of our games and therefore won the Mixed Pairs Indoor Bias Bowls title.

Congratulations to Meredith and Glenn on a fine achievement.

Ivanhoe runners up in A Division Indoor Bias Bowls Competition

The Ivanhoe indoor bias bowls team
of Eddie Hart, Brian King, Don Chesterton and Meredith Norton
finished the season on top of the ladder in A Division and so are the minor premiers.  The team played in the Grand Final in mid August.  Ivanhoe picked up a shot on the second last end to go into the final end with the scores level.   With the final bowl, the opposition skip won the game.

Congratulations to the team for a great effort through the season but just coming up short of the flag.
